Volunteer Work
Lending a Helping Hand
Fall 2018 - Spring 2020
National Honor Society
The opportunity to be a member of NHS was genuinely life changing. This program opened my eyes to the influence that I can have in the community around me. Being surrounded by people who loved to dedicate their time to others has inspired me to be a better person and to follow through with creating volunteer programs of my own.
Fall 2018 - Spring 2020
Mentoring
During the school year, I would go visit my mentee at Golden Lake Elementary School. We played games, colored, made art, and talked. This opportunity was such a positive experience for everyone involved. I am so grateful to have been a role model for my mentee and am so appreciative for her influence in my own life.
Fall 2017 - Spring 2020
Peer Leading
Within Centennial High School, there is a program called Peer Leading where teachers go through a selective process to decide who has the leadership, personality, and skill set to be a part of this group. With this program, I welcomed the incoming freshman on their first day each year, assisted the 7th Grade Courage Retreats, and helped with the 5th Grade Kindness Retreats.
Spring 2018 - Spring 2019
Elementary Carnivals
Some of my favorite volunteering opportunities are always the carnivals. I loved to help run the games, serve food, or help supervise. The best part was seeing the joy on the kids' faces as they were running from game to game with a painted face and wacky hair! I especially loved that this type of volunteer work kept me involved in my community.
September 2019 - December 2020
McMath Mania
McMath Mania was a volunteer-based tutor group I founded at Centerville Elementary School, designed to help kids with math and give them the opportunity to interact with high school students while learning. I would make weekly blog posts to track activity, keep the parents in the loop, and to measure the influence this program has on the students.
